Purpose

The purpose of the programme is to render non-clinical services, including laundry, food services and medical supplies, to support hospitals and clinics in an effective and efficient manner. The achievements of this programme focus on implementation of supply chain management, including the Broad Based Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) strategy, in support of the six strategic goals of the department.

One of the priorities for the programme is to ensure the uninterrupted and reliable supply of medicines and consumables and to achieve the full availability of EDL at all facilities, in order to:

• Achieve quality and effective patient care
• Improved patient waiting times in hospital out patients departments
• Improved staff morale
• Decrease Average Length of Stay
