In efforts to making public health more accessible and reducing lengthy queues common to critical care units at hospitals.
Our Department together with Brima Logistics officially launched a refurbished Accident and Emergency Unit at Far East Rand Hospital on 01 February 2012.
A result of government’s Private and Public Partnership policy, the initiative comes much warranted to stakeholders as the unit treats an estimated 4 000 patients on a monthly basis and was in grave need of attention.
Hospital CEO, Dr. Lekopane Mogaladi highly praised the charitable act and declared it a much needed aid, given the dire condition that was synonymous with the unit.
“This series of changes will certainly go a long way in boosting the confidence of stakeholders as far as Far East Rand Hospital goes,” said Dr. Mogaladi.
“For example, our neonatal wards for example only had 400 beds in the past forcing babies to share a bed by sleeping in pairs as a result of the shortage. Today, we can proudly announce that the number of beds in the ward has doubled and each baby can now enjoy the comfort of their own bed,” stated the C.E.O.
Further progress of the hospital’s transformation is the significant reduction in queues - as the provision of new machinery and expansion on consultation rooms will prove vital in reducing the lengthy queues at the facility, thus making the nurses day to day duties less backbreaking ultimately boosting staff morale.
Brima Logistics Managing Director, Tshepo Mokholo was greatly pleased with the joint venture and immensely praised the effort.
“As Brima Logistics, we remain extremely satisfied with our partnership with the Department and pledge our unwavering support to immediate needs of the hospital,” stated Mokholo.
“A notable change is evident in the hospital today. We are extremely glad to have been a part of it and can only hope this transformation will also progress to surrounding facilities,” he concluded.
